No Italian kitchen is complete without one of these useful bread boards. This style of bread board is made entirely from olive wood (many have different, cheaper wood for the base) and is extremely solid and chunky. The rack rests over the top of the tray as opposed to sitting inside it. The bread board comes in two pieces, the cutting rack, and the tray into which the rack fits. Bread cuts easily on the rack, the lines can also be used as a cutting guide, and the crumbs all fall into the tray below. Remove the board, empty the crumbs from the tray, and then wipe both pieces with a damp cloth if necessary. The joys of mess free bread cutting! Olive Wood as it is extremely hard and long lasting and will last a lifetime as long as it is looked after properly. Another advantage with Olive Wood is that it has natural anti-bacterial properties so will only need handwashing, but, please note, it is not suitable for dishwashers. These olive wood products are hand made and consequently, each piece is completely unique and will vary slightly to the one represented in these photographs. They are not always in stock but usually only take around one week to make. When your Olive Wood products arrive they will be covered in a coating of olive oil but will soon dry out naturally. It is advisable to coat them regularly with olive oil in order to stop them drying out completely.
